SAIC Maxus has delivered 100 units of its newly launched battery-swap electric Mifa 7 MPV to ride-hailing operators in Shanghai, with the handover completed on November 13, 2025. Priced at around 180,000 yuan (approximately USD 25,300), the model offers a CLTC-rated driving range of 527 kilometres and supports rapid battery replacement in as little as 90 seconds. This delivery represents the first large-scale commercial deployment of a battery-swap MPV within China’s ride-hailing market.
The Mifa 7 is based on SAIC Maxus’s latest-generation seven-seat electric MPV platform and has been specifically optimised for commercial fleet use. The battery-swap system significantly reduces charging downtime, enabling each vehicle to operate for more than two additional hours per day compared with conventional plug-in charging. For professional drivers, this improvement translates directly into higher utilisation rates and increased income potential.
Designed to maximise passenger comfort and interior space, the vehicle features a dedicated suspension system, a 2,975 mm wheelbase, and a lightweight, high-efficiency body structure. Its flexible three-row seating layout accommodates up to seven passengers and provides a luggage capacity of 760 litres. The interior is equipped with 32 storage compartments, seven USB charging ports, and a large sliding side door for convenient access. An advanced driver-assistance system tailored for urban environments further enhances safety and ease of operation.
According to SAIC Maxus, the Mifa 7 has achieved a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, meeting stringent European safety standards. The company notes that the seven-seat configuration is well suited for small group travel, helping to reduce the number of vehicles required per trip and lower overall per-passenger transportation costs.
Positioned in the mid-range of China’s electric MPV segment, the Mifa 7 complements SAIC Maxus’s broader electrified lineup. Earlier in 2025, the company introduced a plug-in hybrid variant featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, a 176-kilowatt electric motor, and battery options providing 140 or 230 kilometres of electric-only range.
In contrast, the new battery-swap Mifa 7 is a fully electric model designed specifically for ride-hailing fleets rather than private consumers. With its 527-kilometre CLTC-rated range and ultra-fast battery-swap capability, it is intended to support high-intensity urban mobility operations.
