The Mercedes-Benz GLC has long been one of the brand’s most important global models, consistently ranking among the best-selling premium midsize SUVs. With the GLC 400 4MATIC with EQ Technology, Mercedes-Benz elevates the formula further, blending performance, efficiency, luxury, and advanced electrification into a refined, modern package. Positioned above the standard GLC variants, the GLC 400 appeals to buyers seeking stronger performance without sacrificing comfort or efficiency, all while embracing Mercedes-Benz’s EQ electrification philosophy.

    Design

From the outside, the GLC 400 4MATIC exudes understated confidence. The design is clean, athletic, and unmistakably Mercedes-Benz. A bold front fascia featuring the signature diamond-pattern grille, flanked by slim LED headlights, gives the SUV a sharp and modern face. Subtle chrome accents and sculpted body lines emphasize its premium positioning without appearing overly aggressive.

The proportions strike a perfect balance between sportiness and elegance. Slightly wider and more planted than previous generations, the GLC sits confidently on the road. Alloy wheels ranging from 19 to 20 inches, depending on specification, enhance its stance, while aerodynamic refinements contribute to both visual appeal and efficiency. At the rear, sleek LED taillights and a clean tailgate design complete a cohesive and contemporary look.

    • Length: ~4,845 mm.
    • Width: ~1,913 mm.
    • Height: ~1,644 mm.

    • Cargo Space:

      • Max cargo (seats down): ~1,740 L.
      • Front trunk (‘frunk’): ~128 L.

    • Terrain Mode: Adjusts drive, steering, and brake settings for gravel and light off-road conditions (market dependent).

    Interior

Step inside the GLC 400, and the cabin immediately reinforces Mercedes-Benz’s reputation for luxury craftsmanship. The interior design is modern yet warm, combining high-quality materials, precise fit and finish, and intuitive layout. Soft-touch surfaces, brushed aluminum or open-pore wood trim, and premium leather upholstery create an environment that feels both inviting and upscale.

The dashboard is dominated by a large portrait-style central touchscreen, seamlessly integrated into a minimalist center console. In front of the driver sits a fully digital instrument cluster, offering customizable displays that range from classic dials to more dynamic, performance-oriented layouts.

Seating comfort is a highlight. The front seats offer excellent support for long journeys, with multiple electric adjustments, memory functions, heating, and optional ventilation. Rear passengers benefit from generous legroom and headroom, making the GLC a comfortable companion for family use or business travel. Cargo space remains practical and well-shaped, easily accommodating daily needs or weekend luggage.

    Technology & Infotainment

Mercedes-Benz equips the GLC 400 with the latest generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system. The interface is responsive, visually impressive, and highly customizable. Touch, voice commands, steering-wheel controls, and touch-sensitive pads provide multiple ways to interact with the system.

The “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant understands natural language commands and can control navigation, climate settings, media, and vehicle functions. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, ensuring seamless smartphone integration. Over-the-air updates keep the system current, reinforcing the GLC’s future-ready credentials.

Optional upgrades include a premium surround sound system, head-up display, ambient lighting with multiple color themes, and advanced navigation with augmented reality overlays—features that enhance both convenience and the sense of technological sophistication.

    Powertrain & EQ Technology

At the heart of the GLC 400 4MATIC with EQ Technology is an advanced electrified powertrain designed to deliver strong performance with improved efficiency. The turbocharged petrol engine is paired with Mercedes-Benz’s EQ Technology, which integrates electric assistance to optimize acceleration, smoothness, and fuel consumption.

The system provides brisk throttle response and seamless power delivery, especially noticeable during overtaking or highway merging. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system ensures confident traction across varying road conditions, distributing power intelligently between the front and rear axles for optimal grip and stability.

Acceleration is smooth and effortless rather than aggressive, aligning with the GLC’s refined character. The electrification enhances low-speed responsiveness while reducing engine load during cruising, contributing to a quieter and more relaxed driving experience.

    • Electric Motors: Dual permanent-magnet synchronous motors (front & rear) — all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration.
    • Power Output: Approx. 360 kW (483 hp / 490 PS) total system output.
    • Torque: Around 808 Nm (596 lb-ft).
    • 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph): ~4.3 sec.
    • Top Speed: ~210 km/h (130 mph).
    • Transmission: Single-speed electric with an optional two-speed rear gearbox for efficiency and performance balance

    Battery & Range

    • Battery Capacity: 94 kWh usable lithium-ion battery.
    • Electrical Architecture: 800-volt system enabling very fast charging.
    • Range (WLTP): Up to 713 km (≈444 mi) on the WLTP cycle (preliminary).
    • Energy Consumption: ~14.9–18.8 kWh/100 km.

    Charging

    • DC Fast Charging: Up to ~320-330 kW, enabling ~300 km of range in ~10 min of charging under ideal conditions.
    • AC Charging: Standard ~11 kW, with optional 22 kW onboard charger.
    • DC Converter: Optional, allows use of 400 V charging stations where available.

    Driving Experience & Ride Comfort

On the road, the GLC 400 impresses with its balanced driving dynamics. The suspension setup prioritizes comfort, absorbing road imperfections with ease, yet remains composed through corners. Steering is precise and well-weighted, offering confidence without feeling overly sporty.

Multiple drive modes allow drivers to tailor the vehicle’s behavior to their preferences. Comfort mode emphasizes smoothness and efficiency, while Sport mode sharpens throttle response and steering feel. For those navigating slippery conditions, the all-wheel-drive system adds an extra layer of reassurance.

Noise insulation is excellent. Wind and road noise are kept to a minimum, and the cabin remains serene even at higher speeds—an attribute that reinforces the GLC’s premium touring capabilities.

    Safety & Driver Assistance

Safety is a cornerstone of the GLC 400’s appeal. Mercedes-Benz equips the SUV with an extensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems. Standard and optional features include adaptive cruise control, active lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and rear cross-traffic alert.

More advanced systems can assist with steering, braking, and acceleration in traffic, reducing driver fatigue during long commutes. A 360-degree camera system simplifies parking and low-speed maneuvering, particularly useful in urban environments.

These technologies work seamlessly in the background, enhancing safety without feeling intrusive—an important balance for luxury-minded drivers.

Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) are expected and include:

    • Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane Assist systems.
    • MB.DRIVE Sensor Suite: Up to 10 cameras, 5 radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors for enhanced safety and semi-autonomous features.
    • Trailer Assist & Stability: Includes ESP trailer stabilization and Trailer Manoeuvring Assist.

    Pricing

Estimated Price: Starting from approximately QAR 285,000 – QAR 310,000.
