Al-Attiya Motors and Trading Co. (AMTC), the exclusive distributor of Kia vehicles in Qatar, has officially introduced the Kia Tasman, the brand’s first-ever performance pickup truck, to the Qatari market. Kia’s first-ever foray into the pickup segment was locally launched at a special event held at the Mondrian Doha Hotel.

The evening’s guest-of-honour was no less than HE Hyunsoo Yun, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the State of Qatar, who was received by Abdulaziz bin Mohammad Al-Attiyah, AMTC Chairman; Mohammad Maali, AMTC Chief Executive Officer, and Hanafi Hijab, AMTC Chief Financial Officer.

Also on hand was the presence of VIP guests from Kia Middle East & Africa (MEA): Ahmed Soudodi, VP – Product, Marketing and Mobility; Gautam Arun, Head of Marketing; and Heewon Park, Events Manager. They were received by Hossam Abu Shadi, AMTC VP – Commercial.

Commenting on the local launch of the all-new Kia Tasman, Mohammed Maali, Chief Executive Officer at Al-Attiya Motors and Trading Co., said: We are excited to bring the new Kia Tasman to the Qatari market. The newcomer is a true performance pickup that merges purposeful, rugged design, innovative technology, remarkable versatility, and limitless customization options. This launch reinforces our long-standing commitment to bring Kia’s most exciting and capable vehicles to our market.”

Superior Performance and Serious Off-Road Capabilities

Inspired by two decades of off-road research and proven by Kia’s specialized military heritage, the Tasman is purpose-built for the region. It caters to a wide range of Qatari drivers, from off-road enthusiasts and commercial users to adventure seekers, aiming to deliver a versatile and dynamic driving experience that exceeds customers’ expectations.

Designed to thrive across Qatar’s varied landscapes—from sweeping dunes and rugged wadi tracks to bustling urban roads—the Tasman is engineered to conquer both on- and off-road terrains with ease. The truck has undergone rigorous testing, including 1,777 specific evaluations across more than 18,000 cycles, to prove its reliability in the most demanding conditions.

Built to excel in Qatar’s challenging off-road terrain, the Tasman features an impressive 252 mm of ground clearance and a class-leading 32-degree approach angle in its X-Pro trim level. With a payload capacity of up to 1,151 kg, water wading capability up to 800 mm, and a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes, the Tasman confidently rivals established players in the midsize pickup segment.

The 2026 Kia Tasman is available in Qatar in one engine option: a 2.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine. It churns out 281 hp and 422 Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Higher trim levels are equipped with a four-wheel-drive system, while base models are available in a more economical 2WD layout. For even greater capability, the Tasman is fitted with selectable terrain modes—Sand, Mud, Snow, and Rock—to tackle the most challenging terrains.

    Bold, Yet Highly Customizable Design

Penned from a clean sheet, the all-new Kia Tasman’s striking exterior is inspired by Kia’s signature Opposites United design philosophy, giving it a bold and distinctive presence that stands out on the road. The boxy proportions, “Tiger Face” front grille, vertically stacked LED headlights, beefy bumpers, and a unique horn-shaped hood trim, create a bold yet “unconventional” look that reflects the Tasman’s off-road capabilities.

The Tasman offers a wide range of trims—LX, EX, EX-Top, X-Line, X-Pro, and X-Pro+—each paired with limitless factory customization options designed to enhance leisure and work activities alike. The Tasman introduces industry-first factory-backed customization, allowing customers to personalize their vehicle from the outset with 11 OEM packages. Accessories such as bead-lock wheels, side steps, sport bars, and canopies, provide a truly bespoke truck experience, available directly from the showroom.

Ahmed Soudodi, Vice President of Product Marketing at Kia Middle East and Africa, said: “Kia Tasman has been built to meet the specific demands of the Middle East region. Kia’s engineers have created a pickup truck that brings bold styling, refined SUV comfort, rugged off-road DNA, and industry-first customization in one package. It’s the perfect companion for work, leisure, and everything in between.”

    Tech-Laden Interior

While the exterior styling is looking more aggressive and polarizing, drivers will be greeted by a driver-centric interior that features premium soft-touch materials and cutting-edge technologies. Three screens dominate the dashboard: a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, another 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 5-inch display for the climate control.

Other key interior highlights include an optional eight-speaker Harmon Kardon premium audio system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, dual wireless charging pads, customizable ambient lighting, and a fold-out console table, promising a connected and comfortable ride.

The all-new Kia Tasman redefines practicality with best-in-class headroom and legroom, thanks to its boxy design. Featuring a generous 1,173-liter bed load capacity that outshines its midsize pickup rivals, the Tasman is built to handle more. Its versatile rear bed adapts to customers’ needs with three customizable configurations—Single Decker, Double Decker, and Sports Bar—allowing them to tailor the Tasman to suit their lifestyle and work demands.

    Advanced Safety Features

On the safety front, the all-new Kia Tasman accommodates a plethora of high-tech assistant systems, including Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Blind-Spot View Monitoring (BVM), Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), and Forward Collision Avoidance (FCA), to name but a few.

The Kia Tasman sets a new standard as the brand’s first model equipped with cutting-edge innovations, including Kia Connect. With over 50 industry-leading features, Kia Connect ensures every ride is safer, smarter, and more convenient. Its advanced technology, including Surround View Monitor and Ground View Monitor, provides drivers with a complete and confident perspective of their surroundings.
